Professional Associations

American Association for Justice. Ms. Humphries is a member of the American Association for Justice.

Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar.  Ms. Humphries serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee, and is the long-standing Chair of the annual Advanced Appellate Practice and Appellate Certification Review Seminar. She is also a Past Chair and is a current faculty member of the Florida Bar's Appellate Advocacy Workshop, a three-day appellate practice program taught by appellate judges and appellate practitioners. Ms. Humphries also served two terms on the Executive Council of The Florida Bar's Appellate Practice Section and was the Chair of the Programs Committee. Ms. Humphries is a Past Chair and a founding committee member of the Appellate Justice Conference, an event co-hosted by the Appellate Practice Section and the Conference of District Court of Appeal Judges.

Florida Appellate Court Rules Committee.  Ms. Humphries is a Past Parliamentarian of the Florida Appellate Court Rules Committee and is a Past Chair of the Civil Practice Rules Subcommittee.

Florida Bar Foundation Fellow. Ms. Humphries is a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow. Fellows are life members of The Florida Bar Foundation who believe in the value of justice and the importance of the Foundation's leadership and charitable programs. The Florida Bar Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a mission of providing greater access to justice. Through grants, the Foundation funds local and statewide civil legal aid organizations and projects to improve the administration of justice and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the legal aid delivery system.

Florida Bar Grievance Committee.  Ms. Humphries is a Past Chair of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee "B" of The Florida Bar.

Florida Justice Association.  Ms. Humphries is extremely active in the Florida Justice Association. She previously served on the Board of Directors and has twice served as Chair of the Appellate Practice Section. She has also served as Chair of the Case Law Insider Telephone Seminar. She is an active member of the Amicus Curiae Committee, frequently writing amicus briefs on behalf of the FJA in some of the most important appeals that affect Florida's citizens. The Florida Justice Association has awarded Ms. Humphries the Tipton Award in recognition of her contributions as an appellate lawyer, and also inducted her into the EAGLE Hall of Fame in recognition of her long-standing commitment and years of work to protect Florida's civil justice system.

Florida Supreme Court Historical Society. Ms. Humphries is a member of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society.

Hillsborough County Bar Association.  Ms. Humphries is a Past Chair of the Appellate Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

J. Clifford Cheatwood American Inn of Court.  Ms. Humphries is a Master of the Bench in the J. Clifford Cheatwood American Inn of Court.

Judicial Nominating Committee.  Ms. Humphries is a past Chair of the nine-person Judicial Nominating Committee for the Second District Court of Appeal.

Manasota Trial Lawyers Board. Ms. Humphries is a member of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board.

Second District Court of Appeal Historical Society.  Ms. Humphries is the President and a founding officer of the Second District Court of Appeal Historical Society.

Professional Experience

Early in her career, Ms. Humphries was Senior Attorney for the Honorable Carolyn Fulmer at the Florida Second District Court of Appeal. She later coordinated appellate work for a major plaintiff's firm.


Education

A St. Petersburg native, Ms. Humphries attended Tulane University and Tulane Law School where she was a member of the Moot Court, received an award known as the "Order of the Barristers" for her exceptional appellate advocacy skills, won the Southeast Regional Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Appellate Competition, and was designated the "Best Advocate in Trial Advocacy."
